Clooney-Quin travelled to Newmarket-on Fergus last Friday evening to take on the “blues” in the Under 16B Shield semi-final. The lads settled quickly and drove at New Market with mighty determination to lead by six points at half time on the shoreline of 1. 9 to 0. 6.
But the famed “blues” were not about to surrender that easily and came roaring back in the second half to reduce the deficit to 4 points. However, Clooney-Quin dug-in and upped their game a few notches to overpower Newmarket-on-Fergus by 9 points to 6 points in the second to leave the final score
Clooney-Quin 1. 17 Newmarket-on Fergus 0.12
This was a fine team performance with the lads displaying some fine passages of fast, skilful hurling as well as producing great movements and scores.
