On a lovely summers evening in Clooney last Tuesday, the U14 girls football team did battle with a physically stronger, table topping Kilrush Shamrocks team who eventually took control near the concluding stages of this highly entertaining championship league game. Playing sport isn’t always about winning, and the Clooney girls never say die attitude was very evident throughout the game. Sinead McGee who lead from the front, inspired her team mates with her excellent defensive blocks and bravery. Other notable performances on the night came from Roisin Corbett and the prolific Emer Moynihan who again worked hard for her well deserved scores. It’s onwards and upwards to Cooraclare next Tuesday evening in the final league game of this seasons campaign. Kick off is at 7.30pm. A victory against the west clare team assures the girls of a semi final spot. All to play for!
