Clooney Quin Minor hurlers booked their place in the Minor B Championship quarter finals with a good win over Scariff/Ogonelloe in difficult conditions last Saturday.
Playing on a heavy pitch and at times driving rain, the Clooney Quin boys led at half time 1-4 to 0-4 following a goal from Jack O’Grady and points from Colin Liddy and Alan Culligan.
At the start of the second half Clooney Quin spurned an opportunity to take control of the game when they passed up a good goal opportunity. Scariff/Ogonolloe rallied after this fright and score 1-3 without reply. Things were starting to look ominous for Clooney Qun when Alan Culligan pounced on a mistake by the Scariff/Ogonolloe centre back. Alan drove through the home team defense, laying off the ball which eventually arrived in the hand of Shane Harrison who fired low to the net. The Scariff/Ogonolloe revival was over as Clooney Quin regained control and drove home with points from Cian Keogh, Paul Hogan, Cillian Enright, Eoin O’Brien and Alan Culligan.
Final score 2-11 to 1-8.
The Championship quarter finals are scheduled for Oct 1st.
