The U12 Ladies Football Red Team played their first round of the championship on Thursday evening in Quin School Field against Clarecastle. This was their first competitive match since May but training has been ongoing over the holidays. A recent challenge match against Fergus Rovers also helped in preparation for this close match with neighbours Clarecastle.
At half time Clooney led 3-2 to 1-2 but Clarecastle came right back into the game at the start of the second half with a number of well taken points. The final score saw Clooney victorious on a score line of Clooney/Quin 4-4; Clarecastle 2-6.
