The Clooney Quin GAA AGM convened at 4:30 pm on Sunday November 29th for the purpose of reviewing the year past including the clubs financials, membership, planning for the year ahead and the election of officers for 2016.
Michael Hayes was elected the clubs new president after former president Fr Michael Collins passed away (RIP) in 2015 and Mrs Eileen Mc Mahon remains the clubs vice president. The election of club officers began with Tony Duggan retaining his position as Club Chairperson. Also reinstated was Peter Sheehy Vice Chairperson, Haulie Hannon Treasurer, Theresa Shanahan Secretary, John Culligan Registrar, Brian Rochford Development Officer, Mike Hogan Cultural Officer and Brian Dunne as Child Welfare Officer. John Condon has stepped down as Co board delegate and this position will be filled in the very near future. After being Club PRO this year and a number of years in the past, Pat Ryan has stepped aside (after taking a large remuneration package!!!!!!!!) and handed the role Marie Keating. Trish Buckley Dunne was elected club health and wellbeing officer. This is a new role in the club and is primarily about communication and will involve the promotion of the excellent work the club already does (e.g. participation in Go Games, providing opportunities for physical activity, links with local community groups/charities etc) while also developing new opportunities and promoting these. This is a new initiative being roled out by the GAA to help members make healthier choices around their wellbeing. Brian Rochford is the Minor Committee chairperson and Helen Reynolds is its secretary.
Ger O’Halloran and his team will again take charge of the senior hurling team for the coming season and are looking forward to a very competitive season in 2016. The Junior A and B team management will work alongside the senior management to bring the best out of all players .
The club have yet to make a decision on the return of adult football to the club.
