Clooney-Quins second adult camogie team had a well deserved win over neighbours Kilkishen in the Junior B Cup final over the weekend. The opening quarter of the game was a tight and tense affair with both sides trading goals. Gemma Hassett was first on the scoreboard with a goal inside the opening three minutes after a long delivery from Laura McHugh. Jessica Leamy was on target from a free before Kilkishen broke down a Clooney-Quin attack and scored their first goal. The game was tight for the next ten minutes as Clooney dominated in attack but the defense of Kilkishen held firm and kept the scores to the minimum. Emma Deegan pointed for Clooney-Quin ,Gemma Hassett goaled again and a deflected ball from the Kilkishen goalie gave Clooney Quin their 3rd goal. This created a cushion for Clooney-Quin with a half time lead of 3-3 to 1-2.
Kilkishen tried to push on hard from the second half but Clooney-Quin continued to work hard and grew more into the game. Laura McHugh won a puck out and played it through to Emma Deegan who set up Gemma Hassett again to bag her third and a hat-trick. Emma Deegan put two more over the bar in the second half. Gemma Hassett was on hand again to account for a further 1-1 and Jessica Leamy finished the scoring with a point.
